These projects (from 2010) were inspired by how neurons are born, grow, connect and migrate. I was playing with balancing chaos and control.
These first two were generated using POV-Ray to create different types of branching structures.
This last one was about how we visualize microscopic entities. If we want to find a particular cell, we might create a florescent molecule that binds to a receptor that only that cell has. We aren’t visualizing the complete cell – just packets of tiny molecules. Here I wrote a python script to create a ‘brush’ that draws by dropping tiny, semi-random shapes.
